It’s no secret that NJ and surrounding states have been dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Irene…flooding. The excess rainfall has caused damages in homes and even accidents in the street. Water is a powerful force! It’s important to be protected from it. If you haven’t already, now would be a good idea to look into flood insurance. NJ residents who do not have it most likely wish they had it now!

Here are a few ways to deal with water damage, whether a flood or a pipe burst:

#1: Open up those windows. Fresh air, fans, etc. Any kind of circulation of air is going to help dry the areas and ultimately help rid the smell.

#2: Dehumidify. A dehumidifier will help take the moisture out of the air. Without it, mold has the chance to grow.

#3: Invest in a wet/dry vac. It will suck up as much water as possible from rugs and such.

#4: Find a flood insurance policy for coverage. It’s a good idea to look into flood insurance. NJ residents may not always expect a flood to come through but when it happens, it can do severe damages.

#5: Call a professional. If the damages are really bad, or the water seems to be contaminated…call the professionals.
